Court Grants Interim Bail To Accused Khalid Saifi In Delhi Riots Larger Conspiracy Case

A Delhi Court today granted interim bail to Khalid Saifi, accused in relation to the 2020 North-East Delhi riots larger conspiracy case.
Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai of Karkardooma Courts granted interim bail to Saifi from April 15 to 20, on account of wedding function of his niece and nephew.
Saifi said that functions of his niece and nephew are scheduled to be held between April 14 and 25.
Noting that the marriage ceremonies of the nephew and niece have been verified by the prosecution side, the Court said that as the functions are important, desired relief can be granted to Saifi for the same.
“Accordingly, the applicant/accused Khalid Saifi is granted interim bail from 15.04.2026 to 20.04.2026 subject to his furnishing a personal bond of Rs. 20,000/- with one surety in the like amount,” the judge said.
The Court has directed Saifi to give his mobile number to the investigating officer and always keep the same in 'ON' mode.
“Further, the applicant is directed not to leave the area of Delhi/NCR during the period of interim bail. Further, the applicant is directed not to contact any prosecution witnesses as well as media,” the Court said.
The accused are facing charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Indian Penal Code for allegedly formulating the "larger conspiracy" behind the communal riots which took place in the national capital in the last week of February 2020.
The accused in the case are Tahir Hussain, Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi, Isharat Jahan, Meeran Haider, Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa-Ur-Rehman, Asif Iqbal Tanha(granted bail in 2021), Shadab Ahmed, Tasleem Ahmed, Saleem Malik, Mohd. Saleem Khan, Athar Khan, Safoora Zargar(granted bail on humanitarian grounds as she was pregnant when arrested), Sharjeel Imam, Faizan Khan, Devangana Kalita (granted bail) and Natasha Narwal(granted bail).
