The Delhi High Court on Monday barred a lawyer for a period of one month from appearing through hybrid or virtual conferencing (VC) mode for disturbing court proceedings thrice.

Justice Prathiba M Singh noted that the lawyer, who was appearing from his residence, was also switching on the video and the decorum of the court was not being maintained.

“Accordingly, it is directed that, for a period of one month, the IT Team and Registry shall ensure that the said counsel is not permitted to join any court proceedings through hybrid or VC hearings,” the court ordered.

Justice Singh was hearing the cases listed before her when it was noticed that the lawyer had switched on his video. “I can see his whole house,” the judge said.

Justice Singh asked her court staff to mute the lawyer and also switch off his video, underscoring that lawyers should maintain decorum of the court.

“Note the name of the lawyer. We shouldn’t allow such lawyers to appear on VC. We should block them,” Justice Singh observed.
