Delhi Riots: High Court To Hear Former AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain's Bail Pleas On October 1

The Delhi High Court will hear on October 1 the bail applications filed by former Aam Aadmi Party Councillor Tahir Hussain in the multiple FIRs registered against him in connection with northeast Delhi riots cases.Justice Yogesh Khanna adjourned the matter after Advocate Rizwan, appearing for Hussain, apprised the Court that the status report filed by the Prosecution in the matter was received by him last night, thereby seeking a short accommodation."Learned counsel for the petitioner received the copy of status report last night and he seeks time to go through the same. Learned SPP for the State has no objection to the same. At request, adjourned to 01.10.2021," the Court said.Tahir Hussain has approached the High Court seeking regular bail in four FIRs i.e. FIR 91/2020, 92/2020, 80/2020 and 120/2020. Two of the FIRs are registered against Hussain in relation to information received by a Trauma Centre regarding gunshot injuries sustained by Ajay Kumar Jha and Prince Bansal. Similarly, the third FIR i.e. FIR No.80/2020 was registered for the offences punishable under Sections 147/148/149/436/427/34 IPC and Sections 3/4 PDPP Act, registered at Police Station Dayalpur, Delhi.It was the case of the prosecution that on 25.02.2020, around 100 people were standing on the terrace of the house of co-accused Tahir Hussain (main accused) and they were throwing petrol bombs on the houses of persons belonging to Hindu community.The fourth FIR i.e. FIR 120/2020 registered at Dayal Pur Police Station involves offences under sec. 147, 148, 149, 427, 436 and 120B of the IPC. Apart from Tahir Hussain, the FIR names 9 other accused persons.The said FIR was registered on 4th March last year on the basis of a complaint made by one Irshad Ali wherein he stated that his rented shop was looted on 24th February last year due to the riots that erupted in the national capital. It was alleged that the shutter of his shop had been broken, articles lying therein looted and thereafter the same was set on fire by the riotous mob, as a result of which he incurred loss of around Rs.17-18.00 lakhs.In a similar development, High Court has also issued notice on a petition filed by Hussain challenging the UAPA charges invoked against him in connection with the Delhi Riots larger conspiracy case and also seeking for quashing of sanction granted in this regard.Case Title: Tahir Hussain v.
