The Delhi government today informed the Delhi High Court in a habeas corpus case filed in respect of a 27-year old boy missing since the Farmers' Tractor rally on Republic Day, that 3 search teams have been constituted for locating him and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jhajjhar has also been directed to provide all assistance for the purpose.

Hearing the matter yesterday, a bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anup Jairam Bhambhani had directed the police to file a status report in the matter. However, Standing Counsel for Delhi Government, Adv. Rahul Mehra, informed the court that the police needed a week's time to file the same.
The bench took his submissions on record and given the police a week's time as prayed for.
Filed by the missing boy's cousin, the petition states that Baljinder hails from Haryana's Jind district and never returned after the rally. Since attending the same, his whereabouts were not known, and when the boy's family alongwith the Petitioner approached the Nangloi police station for filing a missing person's complaint, the Station House Officer (SHO) had refused to register any complaint.
According to the plea, the SHO had given him a "false assurance that they will let him know in case any information regarding his brother is received".
The writ petition alleges that, "The inaction and negligent attitude of the police have led to the apprehension that his brother has been illegally detained", and, therefore, "they were deliberately resisting from writing any official complaint or FIR on the family's prayer and had failed to provide any information to the Petitioner in this regard."
Since the filing of the writ petition, an FIR has also been registered by Delhi Police in respect of the incident.
