    Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Patron in Chief of Delhi State Legal Services Authorities has recently nominated Justice Siddharth Mridul as the Chairman of Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee.

    In a letter dated 04.01.2021, Kanwal Jeet Arora, Member Secretary of Delhi State Legal Services Authorities has informed the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs about the nomination and urged the Principal Secretary to take "urgent steps for issuance of notification" in respect of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Siddharth Mridul, Judge, High Court of Delhi as Chairman of the Committee.

    The nomination was done in accordance with Sec. 8A (2) of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 which provides for the constitution of State High Court Legal Services Committee and mandates the chairman to be a sitting judge of the High Court.

    ABOUT JUSTICE SIDDHARTH MRIDUL

    Justice Siddharth Mridul completed his graduation in the year 1983 from Hindu College and pursued LLB in the year 1986 from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.

    He was appointed as an Addl. Judge of the Delhi High Court in year 2008 and later became a permanent judge at the High Court on May 26, 2009. He had been a part of various committees dealing into varied issues relating to rehabilitation of children, abolition of child labour, municipal bye laws and implementation of adequate measures for effective function of Sardarjung Hospital at the time of his practice at the Bar.

    He was also elected as the member of Bar Council of Delhi for two terms i.e. 1992-1998 and 1998-2003. Previously, Justice Mridul has also served as an Honorary Secretary to Bar Council of Delhi from 1994-1997 and as its Vice Chairman from 1998-2003.
