Delhi Judge Shifted After Video Of Heated Exchange With Lawyer Goes Viral

The Delhi High Court on Sunday ordered the attachment of District Judge Rakesh Kumar to the Delhi Judicial Academy after a video purportedly showing him in a heated altercation with a lawyer went viral on social media.

As per an order issued by the High Court Registrar General, the decision was taken by the Chief Justice and the judges of the High Court to attach Rakesh Kumar, presently serving as District Judge-04, North-West District, Rohini, with the Delhi Judicial Academy in a diverted capacity.

District Judge Dheeraj Mittal, who was serving as Additional Director at the Delhi Judicial Academy, has been posted in Kumar's place.

The move, which relieves Kumar of judicial duties for the time being, comes amid the call made by the Delhi District Court Bar Associations to suspend work across Delhi's district courts on Monday in protest over the incident.
