    District and Taluka courts in Karnataka will be working extra hours from January 1, 2020.

    As per the notification issued on Monday, December 30, by the Registrar General states that "In view of the full court resolution, dated December 18, 2019, read with Government Corrigendum, dated December 12. It is hereby notified as below.

    The first session of courts will begin from 11 am to 2 pm. Followed by lunchtime till 2.45 pm. The second session will be between 2.45 pm to 5.45 pm. The office staff working hours are also modified to be 10 am to 6 pm. The lunch break will be between 2 pm to 2.45 pm.

    The notification further states that the fourth Saturday of every month is a half-day, working day, which is a non-sitting day for courts. The judicial officers shall utilize every fourth Saturday for purpose of inspection of courts and jail visits instead of third Saturdays.

    The casual leave available for judicial officers and staff is restored to 15 days in a calendar year from, 2020.
