    Former CJI U U Lalit has accepted the invitation to join National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata as Distinguished Visiting Professor.

    This acceptance of the invitation comes days after his retirement as the 49th Chief Justice of India. Justice Lalit was also the Chancellor of the University during his tenure as the CJI.

    Recently, in an interview, Justice Lalit had expressed his inclination towards law teaching post-retirement.

    Justice Lalit who enrolled as an advocate in June 1983, was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on August 13 in 2014. He served as the Chief Justice of India from August 27 in 2022 till November 8 this year.

    "We are certain that having Hon'ble Justice Lalit among our faculty will be immensely beneficial for the students as well as the University", the Vice President of the Student Juridical Association of the University said.
