Former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Manoj Kumar Mukherjee Passes Away At The Age Of 87

87-year-old Justice Mukherjee was born on 1st December 1933 and he passed B.Sc., L.L.B and joined the Asansol Bar in November 1956 and practised in the Sub-Divisional and District Court and Labour Tribunal till 1971.

He enrolled as an Advocate, High Court on 14^th December 1962 and he appeared in Criminal appeals, Criminal revisions and Reference cases, in Habeas Corpus matter and other with matter mostly relating to industrial labour.

He was appointed as Additional Judge, Calcutta High Court with effect from 17^th June 1977 and later made Permanent Judge from 8^th December 1977.

He was elevated as Chief Justice Allahabad High Court on 12^th November 1991 and he was transferred as Chief Justice Bombay High Court from 9^th January 1993.

He was elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of India with effect from 14^th December, 1993 and retired on 1^st December, 1998.

After his retirement from the Apex court in 1998, Justice Mukherjee was appointed by the Centre as the chairperson of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Disappearance Commission for Enquiry in May 1999.

A Full Court Reference of Calcutta High Court was held on Monday, the 19^th April, 2021 at 10.30 A.M. at Court Room No.1 to mourn the sad demise of Hon'ble Justice Manoj Kumar Mukherjee.
