In furtherance of its commitment to to reach individuals in the interior parts of the State who lack information about their legal rights and face difficulties in accessing justice, the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA), has flagged off a mobile van dedicated to spreading legal awareness.

This initiative by GSLSA aims to sensitize people from the nearby areas and other backward villages about their legal rights and access to justice.

Launched on the premises of Gujarat High Court today, i.e., on 3 February 2025, the mobile van will ply across the districts to bridge the gap in awareness regarding entitlements and their corresponding mechanism for support.

Since its inception, the GSLSA has been committed to its pivotal object of spreading legal awareness amongst the marginalized, downtrodden and vulnerable sections of society through various mechanisms.

The mobile van is customized for spreading awareness and carries the paralegal volunteers with necessary literature containing inter alia the various initiatives of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) as well as digital display.

With the help of concerned District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) the mobile van is being taken to various places of the districts where effective awareness of the welfare schemes of NALSA and information as to who and how free and competent legal aid can be availed and about the Lok Adalat can be spread.

The mobile van is set to enhance engagement through the use of LED screens to display animated movies and short films in small villages, so as to educate the residents about the legal rights of vulnerable populations.

Furthermore, in village panchayats, leaflets mentioning details of redressal agencies, contact details of DLSAs, helpline number (15100) are being distributed to promote widespread access to legal assistance.

As per the GSLSA, “For the year 2025 the journey shall start from the district Morbi as well as Kachchh. The bus will be flagged off by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Biren A Vaishnav, Executive chairman on 3rd February 2025. The visit would cover a maximum number of villages of four talukas of Morbi namely Vankaner, Maliaya, Morbi and Tankara.”

“Similarly in District Kachchh apart from Bhuj, visits at Nakhatrana and Rapar are also planned. The van shall reach Galpadar District Jail Gandhidham to make aware the jail inmates about the rights of prisoners,” GSLSA added.
