The Uttarakhand Police have lodged a case against Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi, formerly known as Waseem Rizvi, and others for allegedly giving a provocative speech against a particular religion at a "Dharma Sansad" or religious assembly which was organized in Haridwar in Uttarakhand on December 17-19.

The conclave, which was organized by Yati Narasimhanand, a religious leader who has been accused in the past of inciting violence with his incendiary speeches, saw many BJP leaders, religious leaders, and heads of Hindu organizations delivering speeches that have been widely condemned as 'hate speech'.

Allegedly, in the video, Narsinghanand has offered ₹1 crore to Hindu youth for becoming like LTTE leader Prabhakaran as he called upon Hindu youth to become "Prabhakaran" and "Bhindranwale".

In a statement given to The Hindu, DGP Ashok Kumar has said that the police had received a complaint and filed an FIR under Section 153A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) related to the statements made at the recent Dharam Sansad event in Haridwar and therefore, an FIR has now been registered in the matter.
