A Magistrate Court in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on Thursday remanded former MLA PC George to 14 days judiical custody in a case related to alleged anti-Muslim hate speech. Following that, he was taken to the Poojappura Central Jail.

The prosecution said that they will seek his custody and the Court will consider the plea on May 30.

The Court had yesterday cancelled the bail granted to George in the case noting that he had violated a bail condition by making another hate speech.

Following that, the police arrested him yesterday night. The case relates to the statements made by George at Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan whereby he claimed that tea served at Muslim-run restaurants are mixed with adulterants causing impotency to people. He also made an appeal to boycott Muslim businesses.

On May 1, the Thiruvananthapuram police arrested him. He was granted bail the same day by the Magistrate in the case. One of the bail condition was that he should not make communal statements.

After his release, George made communal remarks at an event held in Ernakulam district. Taking note of this, the prosecution moved for cancelling his bail citing violation of the bail condition.

A separate FIR has been registered against George with respect to the second speech. The Kerala High Court on Tuesday granted interim anticipatory bail to George in the second case.
