As the country has officially entered the third phase of the Corona virus Lockdown, the Allahabad High Court has decided to open its Benches at Allahabad and Lucknow "in shifts".

As per a notice issued by the Registrar General of the High Court, the High Court benches will open from May 8, 2020 "in two different shifts having different sessions for criminal as well as civil matters."

"The timing for each session shall be from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. While making the Courts operational all protocol pertaining to social distancing shall be maintained," the notice states.

The High Court has also done away with the need to file "urgency applications" and has stated that "All fresh matters may be filed manually as well as by electronic mode for taking up of fresh matters. No need shall be there to file any urgency application."

The High Court will soon notify other modalities for smooth functioning during this period.

In related news, all the subordinate courts and Tribunals in the state have been shut until further orders.
