The Allahabad High Court last week denied bail to a man named Sameer Khan who has been accused of killing his 'paramour/wife', chopping her body into 6 pieces, and throwing it away in a secluded place in July 2020.

"Considering the allegations, heinousness of offence and the evidence available on record, this Court does not find any ground to enlarge the accused-applicant on bail," the bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh remarked.

As per the FIR lodged in the matter, the accused (Khan) had murdered her wife/paramour named Ayesha on July 5 2020 with an iron rod after a dispute erupted between them. After killing her, Khan allegedly chopped her body into 6 pieces, stuffed it in a briefcase and bag, threw it away from a car in a secluded place, and fled away.

Khan, who originally belongs to UP's Balrampur district, used to work in a chicken shop in Mumbai's Bandra area, where he met the deceased (Ayesha) and they started living together. Thereafter, in 2020, during the lockdown period, they both moved to Lucknow and started living together as husband and wife.

He was traced out in a search operation and arrested in August 2020. Besides the confessional statement of the accused-applicant, on his pointing out, the car which was used for throwing the body of the deceased was recovered. The Chopper by which the deceased body was cut into pieces and stuffed in two bags, was also recovered on his pointing out.

Taking into account the facts and circumstances of the case, the court refused to grant him bail. However, considering the fact that he has been in jail since August 16, 2020, the trial court was directed to expedite the trial proceedings and conclude the same, preferably, within a period of one year.
