The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought response of the Delhi Government and the North Delhi Municipal Corporation in a plea seeking an action plan to control the dengue outbreak and door to door awareness campaign in city's model town area.

Justice Rekha Palli issued notice on the plea and listed the matter for further hearing on November 18.

The plea has been filed by one Ananya Kumar, a resident of model town area and has been moved through Advocate Manan Agarwal.

The plea seeks redressal and measures to control the dengue outbreak in the surrounding area of the petitioner's residence and also to conduct regular fogging of the area, door to door awareness campaign, forming of teams to inspect dengue larvae and issuing of dengue helpline numbers.

The plea places reliance on the newspaper report dated October 25 of The Hindu which had reported that the dengue cases in Delhi has crossed 1,000 mark and over 280 fresh cases have been reported in last one week.

"That due to inaction by the respondents in controlling the dengue outbreak the petitioner is herself suffering from dengue fever and also many cases of dengue fever are being reported every day from the surrounding area. The petitioner is living in fear that children and senior citizen of her family may also suffer with dengue fever which can be fatal in their age and hospital beds are also filling fast," the plea reads.

According to the plea, it has been stated that the respondents have not been carrying out their duties and do not have any plan of action to control the outbreak of dengue.
