The Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA) has announced the 4th Edition of its International Conference on "Arbitrating Indo-UK Commercial Disputes: ADR as a Catalyst for Strengthening the India–UK Economic Partnership", scheduled to be held on June 5, 2026, at Church House, Westminster, London.
According to the ICA, this year's edition assumes particular significance in light of the rapidly expanding India–UK economic corridor and the recently concluded India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which is expected to substantially strengthen bilateral trade and investment flows between the two countries.
The conference will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant. The inaugural session will feature keynote addresses by Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice of England & Wales. Special addresses will also be delivered by Periasamy Kumaran, High Commissioner of India (Designate) to the United Kingdom, and Brett Dixon, Vice-President of the Law Society of England & Wales.
The ICA stated that as India and the United Kingdom deepen their economic engagement, efficient and reliable Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms will play an increasingly important role in enhancing investor confidence, ensuring contractual certainty, facilitating legal and professional mobility, and fostering a dependable and harmonised framework for cross-border commercial relations.
The conference is expected to bring together eminent members of the judiciary, leading arbitration practitioners, policymakers, academics and industry representatives from India and the United Kingdom. It aims to provide a platform for discussions on contemporary issues in international arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution.
Through the initiative, the ICA seeks to strengthen institutional cooperation, encourage legal and academic exchange, and contribute to the advancement of international arbitration practices between India and the United Kingdom.
Established in 1965 by the Government of India and FICCI, the Indian Council of Arbitration is one of India's leading arbitral institutions engaged in promoting arbitration, conciliation, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. The institution has developed collaborative relationships with more than 50 arbitral institutions and international organisations worldwide and continues to play a significant role in strengthening India's ADR ecosystem and promoting investor confidence through institutional dispute resolution mechanisms.
