Delhi High Court has refused to entertain an application seeking shifting of Anti-CAA protests from Shaheen Bagh to a different 'authorised protesting area'.

The applicant, a student residing in Delhi, wanted the protests to be shifted from Shaheen Bagh as, according to him, it has directed a large chunk of traffic towards the DND flyover route.

It was mentioned in the application that the protests have attracted huge crowds at the Kalindi Kunj Road area, which has made the roads unavailable for movement of traffic and pedestrians.

Due to the blockade of the said road, the majority of traffic has been shifted to the already cramped up DND Flyover.

It was also submitted that various routes such as those leading to Noida, Ashram, Apollo Hospital and Badarpur, have become unavailable due to the barricading of the protesting area in Shaheen Bagh.

Further, the applicant also mentioned that the protestors have caused physical damage to dividers and other government properties. causing financial loss to the public exchequer.

The Division Bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Hari Shankar simply nodded, and refused to provide any relief to the applicant.

At Shaheen Bagh, many people have been continuously protesting since December 14 against the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act.

Shaheen Bagh protests have attracted large crowds, including people who are there to provide all kinds of help to the protestors such as medicines, food, etc.
