The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice on the bail plea filed by Sushil Kumar Tiwari, accused in connection with the alleged inflammatory and anti-Muslim sloganeering at Jantar Mantar.

Justice Mukta Gupta sought status report in the matter while posting the matter for further hearing on October 26.

The development came after Tiwari's bail was rejected by a Sessions Court vide order dated September 23, 2021.

Videos of mob at the gathering shouting slogans openly calling for the killing of Muslims had emerged on Sunday. Lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay, who has now been granted bail by the Court, claimed that the slogans were raised after the meeting organized by him was over. He had organized a meeting calling for the repeal of "colonial-era laws".

In a similar development, Justice Gupta had granted bail to co accused Preet Singh in the case after observing that he is no more required for custodial interrogation.

Similarly, a Delhi Court had denied bail to Vinod Sharma, National President of Sudarshan Vahini, another co accused in the case.

Additionally, Hindu Raksha Dal Chief Pinky Chaudhary was remanded by a Delhi Court to 14 days judicial custody earlier this month.
