The Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) on Saturday organised a State-Level Workshop on Financial Management to enhance the financial management skills of District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) across the State. The workshop was held at the JHALSA Auditorium, Nyaya Sadan, Ranchi.

The programme was inaugurated by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Judge of the Jharkhand High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, JHALSA, in the presence of Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary, Judge of the Jharkhand High Court. Secretaries of DLSAs, accounts staff, members of the media and other stakeholders participated in the workshop.

Addressing the gathering, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad stressed that transparent, accountable and rule-compliant financial management is essential to institutional credibility. He emphasised strict adherence to the General Financial Rules, timely submission of utilisation certificates, proper maintenance of financial records, and prompt payment of honorarium to Para Legal Volunteers and mediators.

Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary highlighted the importance of financial discipline in public institutions and observed that judicial officers receive limited formal training in financial management despite its significance in judicial administration. He said the workshop would equip DLSA Secretaries with practical knowledge on budgeting, implementation of projects and financial expenditure.

During the inaugural session, JHALSA also released its Newsletter (April–June 2026) and felicitated students of Birsa College, Khunti, who received NALSA's Best Award in India for a reel prepared by them. Three technical sessions covering maintenance of accounts, DLSA assets, the PFMS module, GeM and the half-yearly functioning of DLSAs were also organised
