'Serving Elderly Is Like Serving God': Jharkhand High Court's Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad Inaugurates Clinic For Senior Citizens In Ranchi

Jharkhand High Court judge Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad on Saturday (November 29) inaugurated Mother Teresa Clinic at the Bihar Samaj Kalyan Sansthan in Piska Nagdi, Ranchi, which aims to provide necessary medical assistance and timely medical care to the residents of old-age homes.In his keynote address, Justice Prasad who is also the Execute Chairman of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) said that it is crucial for senior citizens in need to receive timely medical care.He further directed the District Legal Service Authority officials to ensure regular medical checkups and monitoring of old age homes, ensuring that no senior citizen is deprived of prompt medical assistance. He also asked the society to increase sensitivity and moral responsibility towards the elderly. He said that "everyone will have to go through this age one day, so serving them is like serving God". During the program, Justice Prasad also interacted virtually with the elderly residents of the old age home located in Hesag, Hatia, and inquired about their health and care.The program was part of JHALSA's initiative dedicated to the health and well-being of senior citizens. All old-age homes were virtually connected to this state-level program, where the Chairpersons and Secretaries of the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) of the respective districts were present. The main program was held at the Old Age Home in Nagdi, Ranchi. The program was attended by Member Secretary JHALSA Ranjana Asthana, Deputy Commissioner Ranchi, Rural Superintendent of Police Ranchi, Civil Surgeon, and senior government officials from various departments. During the program, Justice Prasad distributed sweaters, slippers, blankets, and hearing aids to the residents of the old age home, along with benefits from government schemes, ensuring their relief and health benefits during the winter season.In her welcome address, JHALSA Member Secretary warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and all the distinguished guests, expressed gratitude to all the partner organizations, and extended special thanks to the coordinator of the old age home. She explained that under the guidance of the Executive President, JHALSA, the authority has been continuously conducting public awareness and welfare campaigns for senior citizens and residents of old age homes across the state.
