A plea has been moved in the Jharkhand High Court seeking CBI inquiry into the death of suspended Sub-Inspector Lalji Yadav allegedly by suicide in Palamu District of Jharkhand.

His brother Sanjeev Kumar Yadav has approached the High Court through Advocate Vijay Ranjan Sinha, alleging that sand and stone crusher mafias were involved in the death of Lalji.

The petition denies the death to be one by suicide and names cabinet minister Mithilesh Thakur, Superintendent of Police and others as responsible for the alleged murder of the sub-inspector.

In the petitioner's case, a dispute arose between the deceased and the concerned Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent of Police, concerning the release of trucks loaded with stones. While the SDPO and SP wanted the trucks to be released, Lalji insisted on filing an FIR and approaching the court.

On displaying reluctance, the SP put Lalji under suspension and then demanded ten lac rupees for withdrawing his suspension. However, the petition states that Lalji refused to obey the illegal dictate of the authorities, which resulted in his murder.

The petition also seeks security for the petitioner and his family members from the police officers, alleging that he was detained in the police station and threatened with dire consequences for filing FIR against police officers.

Case Title: Sanjeev Kumar Yadav v. State of Jharkhand & Ors.
