    The Jharkhand High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the death of Additional District Judge (ADJ) of Dhanbad district, Uttam Anand, who was hit by a four-wheeled vehicle in broad daylight on Wednesday.

    The Bench of Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan has issued the order directing the SSP, Dhanbad to remain present before the Court today 

    As seen in a surfaced CCTV footage, Judge Anand was out on a morning walk when a vehicle 'deliberately hit' him near the Magistrate Colony in Dhanbad.

    The CCTV footage of the incident shows the appearance of an unidentified man on a four-wheeler just before and after the incident. He is believed to be one of the conspirators to a suggested foul-play.

    The shocking incident was brought to the attention of the Supreme Court today morning by Supreme Court Bar Association President Vikas Singh, who demanded a CBI probe. The Chief Justice of India informed Vikas Singh that the Jharkhand High Court has taken up the case.

    It is also reported that a police investigation is ongoing on and two suspects have been arrested late at night.

    Judge Uttam Anand was an alum of St. Xavier's School Hazaribag of the 1987 batch. He was currently posted as Additional District and Sessions judge VIII at Dhanbad judgeship.

    As per the reports, he was involved in several high-profile cases and had recently rejected the bails for two accused of Aman Singh's gang, a notorious criminal of Uttar Pradesh. Among other cases, the murder case of Ranjay Singh, a close aide of Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh, was also pending before his Court.
