Civil Police Officer, M.R. Ramya, who breastfed an infant who had been separated from its mother and found in a hapless state, was felicitated with a certificate issued by Kerala High Court Judge, Justice Devan Ramachandran. The certificate was handed over by State Police Chief, R. Anil Kant.

Justice Devan termed Ramya's good deed as the "best face of the police force". The Certificate is accompanied by a letter of appreciation.

Ramya was also given a Commendation Certificate and felicitated at the Police Headquarters by Anil Kant.

The 12 day old infant, who was taken away from its 22 year old mother by the father following an argument between the couple, was found at Sulthan Battery, when a search was conducted pursuant to the complaint filed by the woman regarding her missing baby.

The infant who was found in a very weak state due to being deprived of breast milk, was rushed to a hospital by the police. On finding that the baby's sugar levels were falling, Ramya informed the doctor in charge that she was a lactating mother, and proceeded to breast feed the infant.

"By considering the hapless infant as her own child, Ramya has increased the prestige of the force", the State Police Chief said.
