The Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), Hyderabad, has procured two Mobile Lok Adalat Vans / Multi-Utility Vehicles with the objective of expanding legal services outreach to the remote corners of districts across Telangana.

At present, TSLSA has only four mobile vans for 34 District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs), which are utilised on a monthly rotation basis for conducting legal literacy camps, publicity of legal services activities, jail visits and other outreach programmes across the State.

To reach the common people in villages and create awareness on various laws while guiding litigants and the public, TSLSA purchased two Multi-Utility Vehicles (Force Traveler – Model No. 4020 WB-BS VI – 6 tyres) with necessary fabrication using grants from the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). The purchase was made pursuant to the directions of Hon'ble Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the High Court for the State of Telangana and Patron-in-Chief, TSLSA, and Hon'ble Justice P. One cabin is equipped for conducting Lok Adalats and video conferencing and includes facilities such as a computer, LED TV, web camera, LAN connectivity with high-speed internet, split AC, microphone system, CCTV and power backup including a UPS and generator. The second cabin is designed for the travel of judicial officers, panel lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and staff to reach various locations for conducting legal literacy camps and awareness programmes across districts.

The vehicles aim to address the legal needs of the public, particularly those residing in remote areas, by providing quicker access to legal assistance and justice through the use of modern technology.

The services to be provided through these vehicles include:

    • Free legal aid and legal support to litigants

    • Conducting legal awareness camps, particularly for weaker and vulnerable sections

    • Guiding affected individuals about their legal rights and the procedures to seek compensation or relief

    • Promoting government schemes and NALSA initiatives relating to public welfare and poverty alleviation

    • Displaying short films produced by TSLSA on legal awareness topics

    • Conducting Mobile Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes

    • Providing video conferencing facilities for legal consultation with lawyers

The monthly schedule of the Mobile Lok Adalat Vans will be prepared and communicated in advance to the District Legal Services Authorities for implementation of NALSA schemes and legal awareness programmes. The Chairperson of the respective DLSA will prepare the tour programme covering villages within their districts.
