    The Central Government on Wednesday (April 28) notified the appointment of Justice Vimla Singh Kapoor of the Chhattisgarh High Court as Permanent Judge.     The Central Government on Wednesday (April 28) notified the appointment of Justice Vimla Singh Kapoor of the Chhattisgarh High Court as Permanent Judge. 

    The Notification of the Central Government in this regard reads,

    "In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Smt. Justice Vimla S. Kapoor, Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, to be Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office"

    It may be noted that the President has accepted the resignation tendered by Justice Sharad Kumar Gupta of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

    The notification to the above effect, issued by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justices says:

    "Shri Justice Sharad Kumar Gupta has tendered his resignation from the office of Judge, Chhattisgarh High Court, in pursuance of proviso (a) to clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution, with effect from 31" March, 2021 afternoon."

    As per a letter addressed by Justice Gupta to the President of India last month, he intends to relinquish his office to take up a new assignment of the State Government.
