Questioning the allegations levelled by Senior Advocate Y.R Sadashiva Reddy against Bar Council of India Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra last week, the Karnataka State Bar Council (KSBC) has issued a press statement firmly endorsing and expressing 'complete solidarity' with the BCI Chairman.

Condemning Reddy's letter aimed at Mishra KSBC has said:

"The KSBC firmly dismisses and condemns the recent letter dated August 22, 2026, issued by former member Shri Y. R. Sadasiva Reddy. The allegations contained therein are politically motivated, baseless, and aimed at creating artificial friction within the legal fraternity".

V.D. Kamaraddi, Chairman of KSBC, has noted in the letter that Reddy served as a Member and Co-Chairman of the BCI for nearly a decade, during which he participated in and endorsed the administrative, financial, and regulatory decisions of the Council without objection.

“…His sudden, opportunistic grievances-raised years after these decisions were executed-demonstrate a clear lack of bona fides”, the KSBC press release states.

The KSBC also revealed that just two years after recommending his name as the BCI representative, the State Bar Council passed an official resolution removing Reddy as the BCI member representing KSBC by a 2/3rd majority, due to his inefficiency and unsatisfactory performance.

“…But he continued in that same post at the mercy of the Chairman. It is ironic that an individual previously removed by his home State Bar Council for inefficiency now seeks to question the credentials of the BCI Chairman”, the statement reads further.

The Karnataka State Bar Council has also maintained that Reddy did not contest the recent KSBC elections and is no longer an elected member of the State Bar Council.

“…Raising stale issues only after losing statutory standing carries no institutional weight and represents a personal agenda rather than the voice of the Bar”, the press release says further.

The KSBC has also praised the chairmanship of Manan Kumar Mishra in the press release:

“Under the stewardship of Shri Manan Kumar Mishra, the Bar Council of India has consistently protected the autonomy of the profession, strengthened advocate welfare initiatives, upgraded digital infrastructure, and resolved institutional matters through constructive, democratic dialogue”.

In the press release, the council also appeals to advocates across India “to reject politically motivated distractions and remain united under the vision and leadership of Shri Manan Kumar Mishra”.
