Karnataka Court Grants Injunction Against Release Of Book On Ex-CM Siddaramaiah

The Additional City Civil and Session Judge on Monday by way of ex-parte ad-interim injunction has restrained State Minister Dr Ashwathnarayan C N and others from publishing packaging, releasing, offering for sale, selling and displaying the book Siddu Nija Kanasugalu, which allegedly contains defamatory statements against the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his son Yathindra, till next date of hearing. Yathindra has filed a suit before the court seeking injunction against defendants. The book was to be released today. The court was told that defendants have already printed the book."The same is printed without the written consent of the plaintiff and his father. The same is containing a defamatory statements against the plaintiff and his father. If the said book is released, the image of the plaintiff and his father will spoiled. It will also hurt the sentiments of followers of plaintiff and his father Siddaramaiah," the counsel representing the plaintiff submitted, while seeking ad-interim injunction. The court on going through the record said Yathindra has made out the ground for dispensation of prior notice on the interim application and also made out a ground for issuance of ad-interim injunction. “Issue ad-interim injunction against defendant No.1 to 7 restraining them, their men, agents or anybody by themselves or on their behalf from issuing/ hosting defamatory statements of any sought in connection with any matter against the plaintiff to the print media or the electronic media and from publishing packaging, releasing, offering for sale, selling and displaying Siddu Nija Kanasugalu, book till next date of hearing," said the court. It also asked Amazon and Flipkart to remove the defamatory contents and restrained them from selling Siddu Nija Kanasugalu upon receipt of links to be provided by the plaintiff.
