Karnataka Governor Extends Tenure of Advocate General K. Shashi Kiran Shetty

    The Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, has formally continued Senior Counsel K. Shashi Kiran Shetty as the Advocate General for the State of Karnataka, exercising powers conferred under Clause (1) of Article 165 of the Constitution of India.

    A notification to this effect was issued on June 6, 2026, by the Governor's office. The order confirms that Mr Shetty will continue in the post with immediate effect.

    His pay and other conditions of service are governed by the Karnataka Law Officers (Appointment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1977.

    The notification will be published in an upcoming issue of the Karnataka Special Gazette. Copies have been marked to the Registrar General of the High Court of Karnataka, the Accountant General (A&E), Karnataka, the Ministry of Law and Justice (Department of Legal Affairs), and senior state government officials, among others.

    Shetty has over 26 years of legal practise and had been first appointed as the Advocate General of Karnataka on May 20, 2023.
