    A total of 3,88,981 cases were settled at the Mega Lok Adalat which was held on August 14, at 943 benches across the state.     A total of 3,88,981 cases were settled at the Mega Lok Adalat which was held on August 14, at 943 benches across the state.

    The Mega Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Former Justice A J Sadashiva of the Karnataka High Court, who was also the first executive chairman of KSLSA. The Lok Adalats were held in both virtual and physical mode.

    A total of 33,251 pre-litigation cases and 3,55, 730 pending cases were disposed of. A total compensation of Rs 907, 65,59,025 was paid and total fine/penalty of Rs 25,75,03,546 was recovered.

    The district legal services authorities had impressed upon the conciliators to try for a settlement of matrimonial cases. Accordingly, a total of 9,815 matrimonial cases were taken up and 1,166 were settled. Out of the 1,166 cases, 74 couples were reunited as a result of the conciliation proceedings.

    "In one of the special cases at family court of Mysuru, a couple who had already annulled their marriage by a decree of court in a proceeding for maintenance, under the advice of Lok Adalat conciliator agreed to remarry in the presence of Principal District Judge, Mysuru", the press note stated.

    Other Highlights of the Mega Lok Adalat:

    • Total 2884 partition suits were disposed of by way of settlement.
    • Total of 1,028 LAC executions were settled in the Lok-Adalat and settlement amount disbursed to the tune of Rs 100,57,22,864.
    • Eight Commercial Courts in Bengaluru settled a total of 114 commercial suits.
    • An insurance company agreed to pay Rs 72,00,000 in a Motor Vehicle Claim matter pending at the Additional District Judge Tumakaru district, after the intervention of Mega Lok Adalat. In another case pending before Senior Civil Judge Kunigal, the insurance company agreed to pay Rs 62,50,000 to the claimants.

    Chief Justice Abhay Oka of the Karnataka High Court who is also the patron-in-chief of KSLSA, Justice Aravind Kumar, the Executive Chairman, KSLSA, and Justice Alok Aradhe, Chairman of High Court Legal Services Committee, appreciated the efforts put in by all stakeholders for the success of the Lok Adalat.
