Kerala Court Imposes Stringent Bail Conditions On Main Accused Pulsar Suni In Actress Assault Case

The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court today imposed stringent bail conditions on Sunil N S, commonly known as 'Pulsar Suni', who is the the main accused in the 2017 actress sexual assault case.This comes after Suni was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, considering his long incarceration and the slow progress of trial.Suni, who has been in custody for more than seven and a half years, is accused of conspiring with Malayalam actor Dileep and others for abduction and sexual assault of the actress in a moving vehicle near Kochi in February 2017.The Court has directed Suni to furnish a bail bond of rupees one lakh and two solvent sureties. He is directed to appear every day for trial and he cannot leave jurisdiction of the Sessions Court without prior permission. He can maintain only one mobile phone with a single SIM card, and his contact number and place of dwelling must be provided to the Court.Suni has also been directed not to attempt to contact, threaten or intimidate the victim, prosecution witnesses and other accused in the case. The Court also warned Suni not to get involved in any other offences. He is also to refrain from contacting or giving any information to the media, including print, electronic, visual or social media. Further, the Court has directed the District Probation Officer to file periodic reports regarding his conduct during bail. The Superintendent of Police (Ernakulam Rural) is directed to safeguard the safety of Suni while he is out on bail and file report regarding the measures taken. Earlier, the Kerala High Court had dismissed the 10th bail application filed by Suni and imposed a cost of rupees twenty five thousand for filing repeated bail applications. While the Supreme Court opined that costs should not have been imposed in the matter, it decided not to interfere since the amount would be directed to Kerala Legal Services Authority.Advocate Prateesh Kurup appeared for Pulsar Suni.Case Title: State of Kerala (Police) v Sunil N S @ Pulsar Suni
