The Kerala High Court on Friday has issued a notice communicating its decision to resume physical sitting from Monday, February 28, 2022.

This comes days after it issued a notice announcing that virtual hearing of cases shall continue till mid-March amid the steady hike of Covid-19 cases in the State. However, it was clarified that physical sitting will resume once the Test Positivity Rate in the State drops below 10%.

As Kerala has been witnessing a drop in Covid-19 cases recently, the Court has decided to shift from virtual hearings.

Nevertheless, advocates who wish to appear through video conferencing would be given the option to do so upon their request in conformity with the guidelines issued in November:

    • The mode of conducting Court sitting through video conference will be optional to lawyers and the litigants, and if anyone opts so, it will be shown in the cause list itself. Such requests will also be entertained at the commencement of sitting on each day.
    • When hearing through video conference is opted by an Advocate or Party, either as indicated in cause list or as mentioned at the commencement of Sitting and the other Advocates or parties are physically present, the case would be heard in a hybrid manner.
