The Station House Officer (SHO), Tilakdhari Saroj arrested on charges of raping a 13-year-old gang rape victim girl was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a UP court on Thursday.

"Accused SHO Tilakdhari Saroj was produced before a district court which sent him to 14-day judicial custody,'' Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pathak was quoted as saying by PTI in its report.

The minor victim girl was allegedly raped by four boys for 3 days and thereafter, they had left her at Pali police station, where, the SHO raped her as well. A case has been registered against six accused including SHO and the SHO was suspended as well.

Police sources have said that the girl was first lured to Bhopal by four men, where they allegedly raped her for three days and, thereafter, when they left her near the Pali police station, the SHO too, raped her. All the six accused in the case have been sent to jail following court orders.

As reported by PTI, initially, SHO Saroj had handed the victim over to her aunt, however, later on, on the pretext of recording her statement, she was called to the police station and was allegedly raped by him.

An FIR was lodged in the matter under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape), 376 B (intercourse by public servant with woman in his custody), 120 B (conspiracy), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe Act.

The National Human Rights Commission has already issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary and the Director-General of Police asking them to submit a report in this regard within four weeks.
