In a temporary relief to former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday granted him exemption from personally appearing before a special court for four weeks in relation to an alleged land denotification case, done for peculiar gains.

Kumaraswamy had moved the court challenging the summons issued to him directing him to appear on October 4, before the special court constituted for Elected Representative. The court had issued summons to 18 others, apart from Kumaraswamy. The court though has directed him to approach the special court by filling an appropriate proceeding seeking further exemptions.

The process was issued on the complaint made by one M Mahadeva Swamy. In his complaint, it is alleged that Kumaraswamy denotified two different plots of land acquired by the BDA, during his tenure as Chief Minister between June 2006 and October 2007. The plots of land are located at Halagevandarhalli.
