Lawyers Carry 'Pen-Down' Protest March In Cuttack Against Murder Of Advocate Pitabash Panda

A pen-down protest march was carried out in Cuttack on Wednesday (October 8) by lawyers who are members of various bar bodies in the city including the Odisha High Court Bar Association (OHCBA), protesting against the brutal murder of Advocate Pitabash Panda.Advocate Panda was shot dead by two unknown miscreants on Monday near his house in Berhampur. Though he was immediately taken to the MKCG Hospital, he succumbed to the fatal bullet injuries.A resolution passed by the high court bar association today states that an extraordinary general meeting was called at 11 am of all Bar Associations of Cuttack City which was presided by OHCBA President Senior Advocate Manoj Kumar Mishra in presence of all the representatives of all the Bar Associations of Cuttack City. These associations include–Cuttack Bar Association; Criminal Courts Bar Association; Board of Revenue Bar Association; M.V Lawyers Bar Association; Cuttack Tax Bar Association; D.R. T. Bar Association; CAT Bar Association and Consumer Courts Bar Association. The resolution states that the members of the bar "unanimously decided and strongly condemned" the brutal attack & murder of Pitabash Panda."Today i.e. on 08th October, 2025 showing respect and solidarity with the Resolution dated 07.10.2025 issued by the Odisha State Bar Council calling upon all Advocates of the State of Odisha to participate in Pen Down against gruesome murder of Advocate Sri Pitabash Panda and Member of Odisha State Bar Council. The General Body has agreed to participate in Pen Down against such barbaric murder. As a mark of protest a peaceful silent rally among the members of all the Bar Associations of Cuttack city shall started from the High Court Bar Association premises at 11.30 A.M," it adds. The Bar Associations of Cuttack City, expressed their heartfelt condolence on the premature demise of Advocate Panda. "May the departed soul rest in peace in heavenly abode & pray before the almighty to give enormous strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear huge loss," the resolution adds.
