The 77th Republic Day was celebrated at the Lokpal of India with great fervour and enthusiasm. Shri Ziley Singh Vical, Joint Secretary, welcomed Justice A.M. Khanwilkar, Chairperson, Members, distinguished officers, and staff of the Lokpal of India on the occasion.

In his address, the Chairperson extended warm greetings to all on the momentous occasion of the 77th Republic Day of the nation. He stated that the Constitution of India is one of the longest written Constitutions of any sovereign nation. It is a living and organic document that embodies the aspirations, values, and collective wisdom of the people.

He further stated that Republic Day is a solemn reminder of our shared duty to uphold the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity guaranteed to all citizens, as enshrined in the Constitution. He emphasized that only the Rule of Law can translate the nation's commitment towards equality, access to justice, good governance, transparency, fairness, and independent and accountable institutions.

He also observed that corruption weakens public trust and corrodes the moral fabric of society. The framers of the Constitution envisioned a nation where power is exercised with responsibility and public office is regarded as a public trust. In fulfilling this vision, the Lokpal plays a vital role in reinforcing accountability and strengthening citizens' faith in democratic institutions.

He further stated that as the nation continues its journey towards becoming a developed country, expectations from public institutions, including the Lokpal, have never been higher. He exhorted all to rise to these expectations by embracing transparency and fostering a work culture rooted in timeliness, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.

Concluding his address, he stated, “May our Tricolour always remind us of our duties, our unity in diversity, and our unwavering commitment towards the goal of a developed India — Viksit Bharat.”
