    The Ministry of Women and Child Development informed Lok Sabha that no proposal is presently under consideration to expand & broaden ambit of National Commission for Women.

    Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani provided details of funds allocated to National Commission for Women (NCW) during the last three years and expenditure incurred thereon by the Commission.

    She informed that the expenditure incurred by NCW vis-a-vis budget allocation shows that funds allocation to the Commission is adequate to meet their requirements.

    Further, she stated that the State Commissions for Women (SCW) are set up by the respective State Governments / Union Territories (UT) and are not subordinate to NCW. They do not function under administrative control of either the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) or NCW, she added.

    Moreover, she mentioned that funds are allocated to the SCWs by the respective States/ UTs.

    (b) whether the said allocation is adequate and if so, the details thereof;

    (c) if not, whether any further demand for allocation of fund has been made by the Commission and if so, the details thereof;

    (d) whether the Government is considering to expand and broaden the ambit of NCW and if so, the details thereof; and
