MPSLSA Conducts One-Day Online Training Programme For Paralegal Volunteers

The M.P. State Legal Services Authority (MPSLSA) organised a one-day online training programme for Paralegal Volunteers (PLVs) on March 25, 2026, aimed at strengthening grassroots access to justice initiatives and enhancing the functional capacity of PLVs across the State.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and Patron-in-Chief of MPSLSA, and under the guidance of Justice Vivek Rusia, Executive Chairman, MPSLSA.
Suman Shrivastava, Member Secretary, MPSLSA, addressed the inaugural session and highlighted the NALSA framework of the PLV Scheme, including the roles and responsibilities of Paralegal Volunteers.
The opening session was delivered by Sunil Jain, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Retd.), who provided an overview of the concept, principles, and stages of mediation. He emphasised mediation as an effective pre-litigation mechanism and highlighted the role of PLVs in facilitating amicable dispute resolution at the community level, along with ethical standards and confidentiality obligations.
Srishti Bhargava, Deputy Superintendent of Police, PHQ, Bhopal, discussed the role of police in ensuring access to justice, particularly for marginalised sections. She highlighted the importance of coordination among PLVs, police, and administrative authorities, along with effective referral mechanisms.
Sangeeta Srivastava, Consultant, Greater Noida, focused on enhancing communication and counselling skills of PLVs. She also addressed planning and mobilisation for legal awareness camps, methods for conducting legal literacy programmes, and the importance of documentation and follow-up.
The programme concluded with an interactive session led by officers of MPSLSA, where participants engaged in discussions on field-level challenges and shared experiences.
More than 1000 Paralegal Volunteers from across Madhya Pradesh participated virtually through their respective District Legal Services Authorities.
Additional Secretary Arvind Shrivastava, Deputy Secretary Aniruddha Jain, and District Legal Aid Officers Pradeep Singh Thakur and Digvijay Singh attended the programme. Secretaries and District Legal Aid Officers from various districts also participated along with PLVs.
The Authority stated that the programme reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening justice delivery at the grassroots level.
