The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of a sexually explicit video showing a judicial officer in a compromising position, which has been in circulation on the internet since Tuesday.

"The National Commission for Women has come across a media post reporting an objectionable video of a Rouse Avenue court judge allegedly sexually abusing a woman in his room. The Commission has taken cognizance of the matter," the press release issued by the NCW reads.

As per the press release, NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to the Registrar General of Delhi High Court seeking an action taken report, She has also sought strict action against the judicial officer, in case the allegations are found to be true.

"The Commission has also asked to apprise whether the Rouse Avenue Court has an Internal Committee in place as per rules laid down in the POSH Act. Action taken in the matter should be intimated to the Commission within 7 days," the press release adds.

In an urgent hearing, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday evening had directed the Centre and social media platforms to ensure that all appropriate steps are taken to prevent the sharing of the video in question.

The order was passed in a suit which sought a permanent injunction to restrain the social media users from publishing or telecasting the video in question.
