National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA) has taken a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and the well-being of its female students by implementing a 'Menstrual Leave' policy.

Under this new policy, female students at the University are now entitled to avail Menstrual Leave. To do so, they are required to submit an application, and these leave days will be in accordance with the institution's existing Medical Leave policies. It's essential to note that students must maintain a minimum attendance of 65% to be eligible for this leave.

"This initiative aims to support the health and well-being of our female students, acknowledging the unique needs and challenges they might face during menstruation. NLUJA remains committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment," a press release issued by the University's Student Bar Council read.

This progressive move follows a demand put forth by the Student Welfare Committee of the Student Bar Council of NLUJA Assam.

Notably, NLUJA is not the only institution to implement such a policy; Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur (DNLU), and NALSAR University of Law have also adopted similar measures in the past.
