    On Monday (28th June) the Centre notified the appointment of Justice Ravi Malimath as the Acting Chief Justice of the Himachal High Court (as per Article 223 of the Constitution of India) with effect from July 1.

    Justice Malimath, the senior-most Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, will be performing the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court consequent upon the retirement of Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy, Chief Justice, Himachal High Court.

    The Notification issued in this regard states:

    "In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Ravi Malimath, senior-most Judge of the Allahabad High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 01s Julye, 2021 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy, Chief Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court"
