The Allahabad High Court has asked the High Court Lawyers as well as the Police Authorities to conduct a joint meeting to resolve the problem of traffic congestion around the High Court premises due to parking of vehicles as well as other relevant factors.

The bench of Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery expected both the parties to meet and discuss the issue and to take a unanimous decision which may solve the problem of traffic congestion affecting the ingress and outgress of the lawyers, litigants, and others to the HC premises.

"The Court appreciates that problem of Advocates is supposed to be solved by Advocates themselves and for that they are ready to cooperate with agencies for a solution," the Court further remarked.

The Court issued this order in a case wherein it took note of the traffic congestion issue in and around the High Court premises last week after a woman advocate showed up late for a court hearing due to a traffic jam in Prayagraj.

The bench of Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery on September 21 directed asked the SP Traffic to come up with an appropriate plan to manage the traffic and parking around the High Court for free ingress and outgress.

Now, on September 23, the SP Traffic and the lawyers of the court submitted their suggestions, and the proposed plans to deal with the problem. Taking into account such suggested measures, the Court asked both the parties to convene a meeting to resolve the issue. The Court has posted the matter for 14th October, 2022 for compliance.

Essentially, the Court was dealing with the case of one Tayyaba Begum, who had moved to the High Court seeking direction to the lower Court to expedite the proceeding of the case filed by her seeking maintenance from her husband.

Now, on Wednesday, her counsel Saher Naqvi faced the wrath of a haphazardly parked number of vehicles around the High Court and due to which, she had to park her car about 1 km from the gate of the High Court and she had to run to reach this Court before 4 P.M. so that her case may not be dismissed for want of prosecution.

When she reached the court, she narrated that few police personnel were present on the road who were unable to manage the jam and parking of vehicles due to which she showed up late for the Court hearing.

On the other hand, Senior Advocate Amrendra Nath Singh had also echoed her plight and requested the Court to pass appropriate direction in this regard.
