Second Covid Wave: NCDRC Suspends Functioning Till April 30 On Account Of Officials, Family Members Tested Covid Positive

The NCDRC has suspended sitting of the National Commission with effect from April 19 till April 30 keeping in view the SOP guidelines for preventing the spread of covid 19 pandemic issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.The notice issued by the NCDRC dated 18th April 2021 reads thus:"All concerned are hereby informed that some of the officials of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) and their family members have been tested COVID-19 positive and are under medical treatment.""The sittings in the National Commission have been suspended from 19 April 2021 to 30 April, 2021. (1 and 2 May, 2021 are holidays on account of Saturday and Sunday." The notice reads.The notice further provides that only one Bench of the National Commission, presided by one Hon'ble Member to be nominated by the Hon ble President on day to day basis, will function from 22nd April, 2021 till 30th April, 2021 strictly through virtual mode from home.Further directions issued are as follows:- The matters listed on 19h and 20h April, 2021, except the matters in which urgency is involved,shall be adjourned by the Registry to such dates, after 2nd May, 2021, in such a way that on any day there may not be more than 15 matters for final hearing, after giving advance notice of two weeks to the Counsel/ Parties.- The maters listed on 19 and 20 April, 2021, in which urgency is involved, will be listed on 22 and 23 April, 2021 respectively.- Similarly, the maters listed from 22 April, 2021 to 30 April, 2021, in which urgency is involved, will be listed on the dates already fixed.- The rest of the matters may be adjourned by the Registry to such dates, after 2 May. 2021, in such a way that on any day there may not be more than 15 matters for final hearing. after giving advance notice of two weeks.- In addition to the urgent matters, the matters in which dates shal be given by the Hon'ble President, will also be listed.Click Here To Read Notice
