Senior Advocate Aditya Sondhi of the Karnataka High Court, who was recommended to be appointed as a judge of the High Court has withdrawn his consent for elevation.

Confirming his withdrawal to Live Law, Sondhi said, "I have written to the collegium on February 4 in the light of the fact that it has been a year since my recommendation and five months since the reiteration".

After a meeting held on February 4, 2021, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Sondhi as well as Rajendra Badamikar and J M Khazi as Karnataka High Court judges. While the latter two were appointed as judges a month later on March 25, Sondhi's name remained on the file.

Sondhi's name was reiterated by the Collegium after a meeting held on September 1, 2021.

Sondhi is a graduate of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. He has been awarded a PhD in Political Science by the Mysore University. He has also served as Additional Advocate General for the Karnataka government, a post to which he was appointed in 2016.
