Sri Krishna Janmabhumi Dispute: "Demolish Mosque In Return Of Larger Piece of Land": Hindu Outfit Offers Masjid Committee, Moves Court

A Hindu outfit named Sri Krishna Janmabhumi Mukti Aandolan Samiti has moved an application before the Mathura court offering a piece of land [to the Muslim party/mosque's management committee] which is larger than the one on which the 17th century Shahi Masjid stands allegedly inside the Katra Keshav Dev temple complex.The offer by the outfit has been made on a condition that the mosque's management committee would have to voluntarily demolish the shrine on its own and has further offered the Committee to resolve the issue amicably. Further, the offer refers to the 2019 judgment of the Supreme Court in the Ram Janmabhoomi case where the court had ruled in favor of the Hindu parties but had asked the government to provide land to the Muslims for a mosque, in return.The Aandolan Samiti has averred in its application, filed through Advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh that in case, the shrine is demolished by the Muslim Party on its own, they would be giving a larger piece of land to the mosque management committee outside the Chaurasi Kos Parikarma circuit of the temple town."We have decided to give Intazamia Committee (management committee) a piece of land larger than the one on which Shahi Masjid Idgah stands if at all they agree to this settlement in view of the application filed before the Mathura Court," said Advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh, speaking to Live Law.Since the senior civil judge was on leave, the application has been submitted to Civil Judge II Anupam Singh and the court fixed July 5 as the next date of hearing.The Application further requests the court to make the it a part of an earlier lawsuit for removal of the mosque from near the temple, pending with the court since December last year.A suit has already been filed last year on behalf of deity Bhagwan Keshav Dev (Lord Krishna) seeking removal of the Shahi Eidgah (mosque), adjacent to the Shri Krishna temple complex in Mathura, and transfer of 13.37-acre land to the deity.A writ petition is also pending in the Allahabad High Court seeking removal of Mathura's Shahi Idgah Mosque, allegedly built on Krishna Janmabhoomi.The petition filed by Advocate Mahek Maheshwari seeks that the temple land should be handed over to the Hindus and a proper trust for Krishna Janmabhoomi Janmasthan be formed, for building a temple on the said land.
