The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed petitions seeking postponement of the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam 2021 as infructuous as the exams are being conducted today.

The petitioners' counsel prayed for a direction to carry-forward the exam fees of students who could not attend the exams today due to COVID restrictions.

However, a vacation bench comprising Justices Indira Banerjee and MR Shah said that it was a policy decision of the concerned authorities on which the Court cannot pass any directions.

The same bench had earlier refused to direct the postponement of the exams.

Last week, the Delhi High Court had also dismissed a similar petition seeking the postponement of the FMGE.

The present petitioners argued that the National Board of Examination's decision to conduct FMGE on June 18th is unreasonable, arbitrary and a mindless exercise as it fails to take into consideration the hardship which will be caused to thousands of examinees amid the COVID situation.
