    Two new judges took oath as Delhi High Court judges on Monday, March 28, 2022.

    Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi administered the oath to the newly appointed Judges. 

    The new Judges (in the order of seniority) are:

    - Justice Poonam A. Bamba

    - Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma

    With the new appointments, the working strength of the High Court has now increased to 35.

    The official notification for appointment issued on March 24, 2022, read thus:

    "In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Smt. Poonam A. Bamba and (ii) Ms. Swarana Kanta Sharma, to be Judges of the Delhi High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices."

    The Supreme Court Collegium had, in its meeting dated 1st February, 2022, approved the proposal for elevating six Judicial Officers as Judges in the Delhi High Court, including the names of judicial officers Poonam A. Bamba and Swarana Kanta Sharma.

    Out of the six names, four judges had already taken oath as judges of the Delhi High Court last month.
