    The Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has raised 7-points-demand and has urged the political parties contesting the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022 to consider those demands.In this regard, a press note has been released by the Council signed by its Chairman, Shireesh Kumar Mehrotra raising the following 7 demands:Cashless medical assistance of Rs 10 lakh should be provided to the advocates...

    The Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has raised 7-points-demand and has urged the political parties contesting the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022 to consider those demands.

    In this regard, a press note has been released by the Council signed by its Chairman, Shireesh Kumar Mehrotra raising the following 7 demands:

    1. Cashless medical assistance of Rs 10 lakh should be provided to the advocates in case of an accident or serious illness. Along with this, one-time financial assistance of 10 lakh should be provided to the kin of the advocate, who succumb to COVID.
    2. 10,000/- incentive allowance per month for new advocates from the date of their registration as an advocate.
    3. A minimum of 25 thousand monthly subsistence allowances to those persons who have served the judicial system as an advocate for 40 years.
    4. Like the judicial officers, experienced advocates should be employed/adjusted in various tribunals, commissions, and arbitration matters.
    5. Plots/housing facilities should be provided to the advocates through Housing Development and Development Authority on the basis of no profit no loss.
    6. Advocates should be provided with interest-free loans, housing, office, laptop, and vehicle. 
    7. Advocate Protection Act should also be implemented and the security in the court premises must be strengthened.

    The press release further avers that around Four lakh advocates are working in the state to provide justice to the people of the society, but they have not been able to get the required support during the Corona disaster.

    In such a situation, the press note states that the responsibility of the government has increased to ensure to provide other facilities along with financial assistance to the advocates.
