According to the Hindustan Times, by-polls in Nandigram are to be held on 6th October after West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari resigned from the seat, whilst retaining the Bhawanipore Assembly seat.
Pradhan was arrested on 18th September in connection with an allegedly 19-year old murder case from 2007 after a complaint was filed against him by the Ritabrata Banerjee-led Democratic Trinamool Congress faction.
Earlier, the candidate placed by Mamata-All India Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee had also withdrawn from the contest.
