The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a promise in its election manifesto to initiate reforms in the Civil Procedure.“We will completely overhaul the commercial and civil justice systems, on the lines of criminal justice reforms. This revamp will aim to streamline procedures, enhance the efficiency of legal processes and reforms. These bills, passed by the Parliament in December 2023, will come into force from July 1, 2024.The other key promises made by the BJP with respect to legal and judicial reforms are :Bringing Uniform Civil Code“Article 44 of the Constitution lists Uniform Civil Code as one of the Directive Principles of State Policy.
