  • NUJS And ODRways To Organise “IMW Business Mediation Summit” In Collaboration With NITI Aayog

    West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata is organising Indian Mediation Week (IMW), a pan India mediation awareness campaign, in collaboration with ODRways.

    The campaign is supported by Union Ministry of Law and Justice, and Justice Madan Lokur, Supreme Court Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee.

    IMW will be organising Business-Mediation summits in four metro cities of India:



    1. Kolkata (10th December 2018), at National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. 10 AM- 2 PM.

    2. Chennai (12th December 2018), at Madras Management Association, 10 AM- 2 PM.

    3. Mumbai (14th December 2018), at IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 10 AM- 2 PM.

    4. Delhi (15th December 2018), at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 10 AM- 2 PM.


    The highlight of the event is going to be the ‘Start Smart Awards', in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog. The awards recognize the top three startups each from four zones of India— North, South, West, and East. These startups will be provided incubation support by AIM.

    Further, the event would involve two panel discussions in each summit: 1) On how to make doing business easier, and 2) On how to make solving disputes easier.

    Elaborating on IMW’s growth over the past year, an official release said: “In the last one year, the Indian Mediation Week campaign has spread to 102 cities across India and directly sensitized more than 2,00,000 people about the benefits of mediation. IMW has launched the first of its kind online platform, Mediation Embassy, where you can track the level of mediation awareness in each city.”

    Call for proposals

    Interested law students can submit their proposals to improve access to justice in India. It can range anywhere between 500-1000 words. There are no rules with respect to style, structure or format.

    After a screening process, top three proposals for each summit will be chosen by a jury constituted by National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, and these will be awarded a certificate of achievement and a one-month assured internship in 2019.

    Proposals can be submitted to participation@indianmediationweek.com by 28th November 2018. The subject of the mail needs to be “Proposal- Business-Mediation Summit—name of the city you want to take part in (Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi or Chennai)”.

    Call for delegates

    Interested law students and lawyers can attend any one of the Business-Mediation Summits. Each delegate will receive a certificate of participation from NUJS and NITI Aayog.
